Hello friends!!!

Last time, I was excited because my research proposal was already in the revision phase. Then for the submission of my research title has been accepted by my two companion lecturers. They are Ms. Dr. Ir. Sri Pujiyati and Mr. Ayi Rahmat, S.Pi., M.Si. Not to forget, I also have a very special mentor as you all know, Mr. Neill Bar !!! Luckily I can be guided by him.

Yesterday, Mr. Neill and I have done a sharing session again about the searches we got. So, Mr. Neill shared about what he got from colleagues who understand the field of marine acoustics. Meanwhile, I have shared with one of my supervisors, Ms. Dr. Ir. Sri Pujiyati.

First, we discussed the specifications of the SIMRAD EK 15 echosounder instrument. I got information that SIMRAD EK 15 is a single beam echosounder with 200 kHz frequency. This type of single beam on SIMRAD EK 15 means that it only has one beam consisting of the sender and receiver. Then for the frequency used is 200kHz which means this echosounder is very suitable for use in shallow waters or used as a research tool in experimental ponds. Then we discussed using the cobalt sphere as a control variable. This control variable serves as a comparison of the resulting target strength values.

 

Me and Dr. Neill then shared about the design of the watertank settings. First, here's my watertank setting design:

Mr. Neill told me about the design I made, some things need to be reviewed. The experiment orientation can be made into two parts. Vertically and horizontally. According to his colleague Mr. Neill also conveyed this to anticipate if the water tank depth did not reach the minimum depth limit of SIMRAD EK 15. This caused the inaccuracy of the SIMRAD EK 15 instrument. So, Mr. Neill describes the experimental tool setting. Here's the design of Mr. Neill recommends :

The fixation tools that I need when I research are as follows:

1. Compressor
2. Rotameter water
3. DIY pot
4. Echosounder SIMRAD EK 15
5. Monofilament cord
6. Transducer support
7. The ball sphere

Mr. Neill also added that I have to prioritize what the supervisor advises. Only then did the orientation experiment suggested by Mr. Neill.

For the continuation of this project, the initial phase is of course by first correcting the revision of my research proposal. Then prepare borrowing or purchasing tools and materials, borrowing laboratories, and making research schedules.
